The Texas Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG) is dedicated to being one of the finest medical student run groups in the country. Our chapter at Baylor College of Medicine prides itself in being one of the most active student groups in the nation and providing its members opportunities that can be found no where else. Our EMIG exists not only to foster an interest in Emergency Medicine, but aspires to the far greater goal of providing service to our members, our medical school and most importantly our community in the great city of Houston.
Our dedication to service is manifested in the many projects and initiatives that our group oversees. Texas EMIG has taken the lead in certifying Baylor medical students in CPR and providing educational opportunities for its members via its EMS ride along program, cadaver clinical skills workshop and frequent suturing labs. In addition, our EMIG is one of the only student groups in the nation with its own work study program, where clinical and preclinical students can work in the Ben Taub Emergency Center performing clinical skills and improving patient care. We take great pride in the fact that each of our projects has been initiated, staffed and managed by Texas EMIG members.
Our EMIG pertains to more than just medical students interested in Emergency Medicine. It is for any medical student who wants to contribute to their community and become a better physician through clinical practice, simulation and service. We invite you to read about the projects we have highlighted on this website. Once you see the substantial work that we are accomplishing we hope that you will join our EMIG and participate in our programs. If you are inspired to do more than simply participate, we encourage you to become an EMIG officer, contribute to an existing effort, lead or donate to a project or begin one of your own. Become a part of Texas EMIG and discover the specialty of emergency medicine, join us as we continue to aid our community and work with your peers as we educate and empower one another.
Sincerely,

Donald Stader
